Everyday Beauty Project

“Everyday Beauty” was what I ended up titling my final project in my journalistic photo class last semester. There weren’t any solid ‘rules’ for the project, except needing it to be able to able to span 5 weeks of shooting. The idea behind it was to go around and photograph everyday, mundane things that most people don’t give a second thought (or glance) to, and making them into art. My goal was to shoot these subjects in a way that made them not only more artistic looking, but more graphic as well, ideally making the viewer a little unsure of what exactly it is that they were looking at. Because it was a 5 week long project, I ended up having hundreds of pictures to work with. Here are just a few of my favorites-
