This was the final project for one of my graphic design classes. The task was to write an article about some aspect of design and then design magazine spreads to showcase the article. For my project, I chose to write about color in design (hence the title), and the psychological connotations behind certain colors. To create the magazine spreads, I wanted to obviously showcase colors in some way, but wanted to avoid anything that came across as primitive or child-like. After some though, I created a dotted pattern in Illustrator and chose to make it the recurring element of the project. I liked the modern, sophisticated feel it gave off, especially with the more ‘adult’ color choices that comprised it. Here’s the final product; a marriage of both original writing and design.
